HMD’s new Nokia 123 Shield arrives as a rugged, ultra-affordable feature phone built for people who need reliability, whether they’re outdoor workers, students wanting a backup device, or anyone who prefers long battery life over apps. The phone focuses on durability, essential connectivity, and ease of use, making it a practical choice in a world dominated by smartphones.

A Rugged Comeback for Essential Users

HMD positions the Nokia 123 Shield as its most affordable water- and dust‑resistant feature phone, designed from the ground up for outdoor environments. The device meets IP65 protection, meaning it can withstand rain, splashes, sand, and dust, a major advantage for field workers, farmers, and travelers. Its textured sides improve grip, while a rubber seal protects the USB‑C and 3.5mm ports from debris. At just 108 grams, it remains lightweight and pocket‑friendly.

Simple Hardware, Strong Practical Value

The Nokia 123 Shield runs on the S30+ OS with a Unisoc SC6531E chipset, paired with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of storage, expandable via a microSD card up to 32GB. The 2.4‑inch QVGA display keeps things familiar and easy to navigate. On the back, a basic QVGA camera with an LED flash doubles as a bright torch — reportedly 300% brighter than the Nokia 110’s flash. The phone supports FM radio (wired & wireless) and dual Mini SIMs, though it is limited to 2G networks, which may affect usability in regions where 2G is being phased out.

Long Battery Life & Affordable Pricing

Battery life is where the Nokia 123 Shield truly shines. Its 1,750mAh removable battery delivers up to 27.9 hours of talk time and 19 days of standby, making it ideal for remote work sites or emergency kits. While HMD hasn’t announced global pricing, early listings in Bulgaria (€35–€36) and Greece (€40) suggest it will be one of the most budget‑friendly rugged phones available.

According to Gizmochina, the Nokia 123 Shield targets users seeking a reliable, long-lasting device without the complexities of modern smartphones. Users who want a dependable, long‑lasting device without the complexity of modern smartphones.
