Xiaomi Poco X8s Review: Specs, Camera, Price & Battery

Small phones with big batteries are rare. Most brands make you choose between a pocket-friendly body and all-day power. The Xiaomi Poco X8s aims to provide both a compact design and long-lasting battery life. It arrived quietly in Vietnam in late October 2026 and has already drawn attention for its compact screen, fast charging, and a camera setup that may include a telephoto lens.

This guide covers what we know so far: the Xiaomi Poco X8s review basics, the full specifications, the camera situation, pricing, and who the phone suits. Details come from launch coverage, and I flag the places where sources disagree.

What Is the Xiaomi Poco X8s?

Poco launched the Poco X8s quietly in Vietnam as the fifth phone in the X8 series, joining the X8 Pro, X8 Pro Max, X8, and X8 Power. The rest of the lineup has larger screens, so the X8s stand out by being smaller. For anyone who finds 6.8-inch phones awkward, that matters.

A quick note on naming: you may see searches for “Poco X8s Pro specifications.” No phone with that name has been announced. The closest relative is the separate Poco X8 Pro, which has a different chipset and screen size. This article covers the X8s only.

Compact Without Feeling Cheap

The screen is the main reason to look at this phone. At 6.35 inches, it is clearly smaller than most phones at this price. The OLED panel is sharp at 1.5K resolution. It reaches 3,500 nits of peak brightness, which should keep the display readable in harsh sunlight. That is a real benefit in hot, bright climates.

The LTPO technology lets the refresh rate adjust itself, so the phone can save power when you are reading and speed up when you scroll or game. At roughly 187 grams, it should sit comfortably in one hand. The IP68 rating also means it can handle rain, spills, and dust far better than many phones in this class. The available colors are white, black, and blue.

What Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Means for Daily Use

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is an upper mid-range chip. It should handle social media, video streaming, multitasking, and popular games like PUBG Mobile or Genshin Impact at medium to high settings without trouble. Paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage, apps should open quickly, and file transfers should feel fast.

I have not tested this phone myself, and full independent benchmarks have not been published yet. Treat performance claims as expectations based on the chip class, and wait for hands-on reviews before judging sustained gaming or heat.

Is It a 50MP Telephoto Camera Phone?

This is the section where sources disagree. Several outlets, including Gizmochina and ProPakistani, list only a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and note that the main camera configuration has not been consistently reported. Other coverage describes a fuller setup. Unbox.ph reports a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 main camera with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel 2.5x telephoto camera. A Vietnamese tech site’s pre-launch report likewise mentioned 0.6x ultrawide, 1x standard, and 2.5x optical zoom.

If the telephoto lens is confirmed, the addition would make the X8s a genuine 50 MP telephoto camera phone at a mid-range price. For reference, Poco’s pricier F8 Pro uses a similar 2.5x telephoto. GSMArena found its stills look almost identical to 2x crops from the main camera, so the practical gain is mostly cleaner portraits and moderate zoom shots rather than long-range zoom.

My advice: do not buy the telephoto claim alone. Check Poco’s official spec page or a retailer listing for your region first. The 32MP front camera should handle selfies and video calls well.

Battery and Charging: The Real Highlight

A 6,330mAh battery in a 6.35-inch phone is unusually large. Most compact phones carry 4,500 to 5,000mAh. With an efficient LTPO display and a 4nm chip, two days of light use looks plausible, and a full day of heavy use should be comfortable.

The 100W wired charging is the other half of the story. High-wattage charging should refill a battery this size in well under an hour, though exact times will depend on the charger and real-world testing. The 22.5W reverse charging lets you top up earbuds or a friend’s phone in a pinch. Keep in mind that the charging specs include 100W PPS support, so a compatible charger helps you reach full speed.

Price and Availability

In Vietnam, the 8GB + 256GB model costs $440, and the 12GB + 512GB version costs $530. Launch vouchers reduce those to $310 and $390. Local pricing is VND 11,500,000 and VND 14,000,000. Pre-orders ship between November 6 and November 9.

Global availability is unclear. Reports say it is not confirmed whether Poco will sell the X8s in other countries. One Indian outlet expects an India launch by the second week of November 2026, but that is a forecast and not an announcement. I found no confirmation for Pakistan. Pakistani buyers should watch Xiaomi Pakistan’s official channels and local retailers and be careful with grey-market imports that may lack warranty or local network band support.

Who Should Buy the Poco X8s?

The phone makes the most sense for three kinds of buyers:

  • Small-phone fans who want flagship-style battery life without a bulky body.
  • Heavy users who value fast charging and a bright screen outdoors.
  • Camera-curious shoppers who may enjoy a telephoto lens, once it is confirmed.

You might skip it if you want a large display for video, need guaranteed long-term update promises (Poco has not detailed them in the coverage I found), or live somewhere it is not officially sold.

Verdict: A Promising Compact Phone

The Xiaomi Poco X8s looks like a strong niche product. The compact OLED screen, large battery, 100W charging, and IP68 build are a rare combination. The main open questions are the telephoto camera, official global pricing, and independent performance tests.
